Pedigree
Wood reached into the crate and took out the fourth and last ball. Compared with the Quaffle and the Bludgers, it was tiny, about the size of a large walnut. It was bright gold and had little fluttering silver wings.
"This," said Wood, "is the Golden Snitch, and it's the most important ball of the lot. It's very hard to catch because it's so fast and difficult to see."
~Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone
Peanut was the first-born puppy in Emma's first litter. Though she was smaller than her littermates when she was born, she had by far the biggest personality! Peanut lives with Bob & Theresa Masin of Pine Barren Boxers, sharing the couch and launching flying squirrel attacks on her Boxer housemate Beasley. Peanut is still a spit-fire, and keeps Theresa, Bob, and Beasley entertained and on their toes!
Peanut's call name came naturally from her size - at just 7 oz. at birth, she was a "little peanut" for most of her time with the litter. (She caught up by about 11 weeks old!) Her registered name, "Golden Snitch", is based on the game of Quidditch in the Harry Potter series. The Snitch is the smallest of four balls used in the game, but is also the fastest and trickiest - just like Peanut!
